- Extension springs run along the horizontal tracks on both sides. A failure there tends to show as one side hanging lower than the other, or the door racking as it travels.
How Long Do Springs Last?
Standard garage door springs are rated for approximately 10,000 cycles. - It does not change the cycle rating you started with. A standard replacement spring on a door opened five or six times a day is on the same clock as the one that just broke — the high-cycle option is what changes that arithmetic.
- It does not address panel damage or a door already past its service life. If the door itself is failing, a new spring is money spent on something you may replace anyway.
